White Fillings

At Appleton Park Dental we offer tooth-coloured or composite fillings. The biggest advantage of white fillings is aesthetic. They blend in with the natural colour of your teeth for a seamless and beautiful smile.

What are white fillings made of?

White fillings use a tooth-coloured mixture of acrylic resin and powdered glass.

How is a white filling applied?

Your dentist applies a local anaesthetic to the affected tooth, before removing the decay. Then they will place the white filling material in layers directly into the cavity, curing each layer before adding another.

After shaping it to match the rest of your tooth’s surface, the dentist will cure your filling with a special light and polish it to smooth any rough texture.

How long do white fillings last?

With regular brushing and flossing, white fillings should last at least 5 years.

Can I have my metal fillings replaced with white ones?

If a metal filling is coming to the end of its life, we can replace it with an aesthetically pleasing tooth-coloured filling.

If you are experiencing tooth sensitivity and suspect you may need a filling or another restorative procedure, call us on 01925 266 488.
